FINE精制家具Biltmore系列设计师Steven Bussell
网易家居: What are the main characteristics of Biltmore?
Steven Bussell:I am not sure, we created a collection of about sixty pieces, thirteen different compliementary finishes, many different veneer species that covers several livestyles, we have a formal look with lots of detail and embellishments to a larger scale, we have a more casual look, smaller scale for those who prefer cleaner lines, still with interesting design details and case configurations.

网易家居: Did you bring any elements from the Biltmore Estate to our Biltmore Series? Please explain in specific detail.
Steven Bussell:We brought many elements from the house into the furniture. the Grille in the Vitrine doors is a pattern developed from a ceiling on the 2nd floor, we drew inspiration for the Boulevard bed from a similar bed in the tower room with carvings from a chair in another area of the house. Cornelius Cabinet was adapted from a buffet in the servants dining room, of course modified for todays needs. Everywhere you look there will be small details that either came from furniture in the house or came directly from the architecture of the house. There are many many other elements too numerous to list used through out the collection.

网易家居:Could you please talk about some details about some outstanding furniture in this collection?
Steven Bussell:I like to think all the furniture is outstanding but there are pieces that stand out, the boulevard bed is extra special, adapted from a bed in the tower bedroom, it has an antiqued silver leaf type finish with an upholstered head panel, delicate pierced ribbond and leaf carvings on the head give it a feminine feel, everywhere you look there are small details, stop reeding in the flutes of the headboard, twist or spiral flutes on the top of the finials particularly like the balustrade table, the top is framed with a wide egg and dart moulding with a seamless fit, the column is a stylized palm frond turned upside down

网易家居:As a famous American designer, how do you inspire yourself to discover new design ideas?
Steven Bussell:Inspiration comes from many places and in many forms, you always study the trade magazines to see what the interior decorators are doing regarding color and texture, Museums and librarys are always an good place to research traditional designs..Model homes are also very helpful, through the decades room sizes have changed; customers’ needs are evolving in this era of rapid technology. Another excellent place for inspiration is ladies apparel and accessories; many times you may see an item of jewelry that can be twisted, modified into a drawer pull. Historical estates that have been preserved are full of design details..I guess the key to the future is in the past.
