设计大师季裕棠:设计师赋予空间灵魂 | 2016M&O ASIA
2016年3月8日-11日,为期四天的MAISON&OBJET巴黎时尚家居设计展亚洲版(简称M&O ASIA)于新加坡举办,持续引领亚太地区时尚家居设计潮流。新浪家居受邀前往新加坡为大家带来最新设计潮流讯息!
2016 M&O ASIA亚洲版以崭新的姿态于3月8日在新加坡开幕,新浪家居受邀进行4天不间断直播报道。今年20场高峰论坛当中有一位许久未登台演讲的设计大师——著名设计师季裕棠先生带来了精彩演讲。小浪前方记者特别邀请季裕棠先生接受《设计者说》视频栏目的专访,本期小编将剧透部分采访内容供大家尝鲜!
1 请问您是否有设计导师或是对您影响很大的人?Do you have any design mentor or inspirations?
季裕棠:我们所说的设计导师或者是影响者要看是在哪些特定的领域,我一直很崇敬哪些伟大的画家,我学习的是美术,对我来说画家是一个很棒沟通者,他们不是用语言来沟通,而是擅长用对生活的感悟、理解和感情来交流。所以画家和雕塑家经常给我带来灵感和启发。
You know design mentor depends on which is specific area, I always admire the great painters, you know I study fine art, to me the painter is always a great communicator, communicating without words, communicating with our lifes, communicating with emotions, so I found the painter and sculpturer are great inspiration to me.
作为一名建筑师或是设计师,我们在做的事情就是在“阐释”,在不断说明白我们到底在表达什么和我们如何表达的,这便是设计最基本的原理。然而当今世界的设计圈逐渐趋向于商业化,设计师们经常去做“打包”设计,我的建议是设计师一定要去关注设计的内涵和本质,也就是我们说的“内容”,如果你找到了好的“内容”,那么设计便会变得顺畅简单起来。
Being an architect or a designer, we equally do expression, what do we express, how do we express, what do we wanna say and how are we gonna say it, that’s the basically fundamental of design. So what are we design, today design world define a very commercial way, people are using packaging to package something, but in other hand I’m suggesting you know you cant do packaging unless there’s no content, you must focus on the content. But nowadays most people don't realize that design is supplement to content, if you got content, the design will be easier.
2 您理解的最佳设计酒店是?How do you define a good boutique hotel?
季裕棠:人们总在问最棒的设计酒店、精品酒店是哪些,但是我认为我们应该关注的是在那里感受到什么样最难忘的服务和经历,我觉得那是对于酒店本身来说更重要的。不要去想硬件是什么,要去思考一个酒店实质的“灵魂”是什么。
People always ask what the great boutique hotel or design hotel, but to me I think you should focus on where do I experience the most memorable hospitality, I think that is far superior “hotel”per se. Don't think about the hardware and the body, think about the soul.
我曾经去过了很多令人难以忘怀的人家,但是它们并不是我们传统意义上说的“酒店”,在那里的主人非常温暖、热情好客,所以这使得那里便成立非常独特的“酒店”。我们试问现在在这么多酒店当中有哪些真的是关注顾客所想所需的?所以我觉得我们不一定非要去关注那些名牌,或是人人称赞的酒店,而是要更关注你去到一个地方之后所感受到的地方的“灵魂”是什么。
I stayed in some of the most spectacular houses, but they are not “hotel”. There you have the most warm and hospitable people to service you, so that makes it very unique ”hotel”. How many hotel out therefocus on people? I think this is basically where you people should focus on as well, it’s not a famous brand, it’s not which “bespoke” hotel, it’s nothing to do with it, but there you have to feel the soul of every places.
当然,要有所谓好的“内容”就是要建立你与这个地方的联系,我曾住在威尼斯,众所周知这是非常浪漫的地方,但是威尼斯的美,不是因为它的人,因为那里有太多的游客,所以我们怎么去感受它的美呢?最好的方式其实是当那里没有人的时候,夜晚走在威尼斯的运河边与月光宁静的对视,那种感觉便是极好的,我们把这叫做“孤独的船夫”。
Of course the content cant be great if there’s no contacts, when I was in Venice, who doesn’t like Venice, it’s one of the most romantic city in the world, but the beauty of Venice, certainly it’s not about the people, because most people there are tourists, so how do you enjoy Venice? And the best to enjoy Venice is actually when there’s nobody there! If you take a walk in the middle of night, then you can enjoy the light and moonlight of Venice, as we call it “the lonely gondolier”.
3 新开业的成都君悦酒店的设计理念是?What experience were you trying to create for Grand Hyatt Chengdu?
成都正处在中国南北、东西的交汇处,在过去人们称旅馆为“客栈”,所以我的任务是如何设计一个“现代的客栈”。我对设计理念是要做一个非常个人化的好像让人感觉是某一个人所拥有的个人空间,而不只是代表某一个品牌,君悦酒店在很多地方都有看到,香港、新加坡,但是我要做的是具有城市个性的、独特的酒店设计。
First of all Chengdu is a crossroads for the north and the south , east and west on the center of China. In old days we call it "kezhan"for the traveler, so the first thing is how do I Design a modern "Kezhan",in my mind I want to create a hotel feels like somebody personal own, it is not just a brand, there are Grand Hyatt everywhere, but how can I make grand Hyatt Chengdu different than any other grand Hyatt? So I must build the personality.
想要了解一个城市就要去了解那里的人们的生活方式,成都人生活是很闲适、缓慢的,他们没有太多的激进心理,所以我们的设计里面很多的都是为他们而设计,他们才是会居住并且来使用和感受这里的主人。同时我还做了很多花园,为什么有花园?因为成都人很喜欢在室外活动,夜城嘛!晚上的时间人们可以到外面去见朋友吃饭,所以我们为他们而设计。
So I put much dedicated to the people in chengdu first. People in Chengdu, they are very hospitable people. They're very laid-back and all the people there are not confrontational, so lots of design we did for them, they will live in it and they will operate it. And I also put alot of gardens, because Chengdu people like outdoors. A night city! At nighttime people can go outside, they go and eat very late!
你问我我想给他们带来什么样的体验?很简单我想让他们感受成都,成都君悦不是典型的君悦系列酒店,这里更加的具有在地化特征,不带有任何“浮夸”的设计,非常自然和舒适。这里要做的不是向人们展示五星级酒店的奢华体验,而是让来住在这里的人在离开的时候可以说:我真的不想离开。如果你是一个旅游者,那么我希望你可以在最后由内心发出这样的感慨:时间过得真快,真的不想离开。
For those travellers who come to chengdu, what do I want them to experience? I want them experience chengdu, that's very simple, The hotel is not a typical grand Hyatt, it is different with grand Hyatt Hong Kong , grand Hyatt Singapore andanywhere else. It is feel more domestic, the design of it, it is about being very unpretentious. Being very natural and being comfortable, they are not being a hotel tell people there are five stars and make a very large room , I'm nothing to do with it. we made it feel somebody living there to say "I don't really want to leave", so if you're traveler, the last thing I want to say : ah it's time to leave, really don't wanna go.
4 对年轻设计师有何经验分享与期待?What's your suggestions for young designers?
季裕棠:你刚才提到的“行业”,设计行业我们谈论建筑,建筑是一个很长时间研习的过程,很多攻读建筑的人他们都有些“大器晚成”,到很大才会出名,一个艺术家也好、还是建筑师都需要增长经验来不断使自己更成熟,我本人从很小就入门学习艺术但是我觉得大概是我到了40岁中旬才真正打开自己的设计宝藏,我现在已经将近60岁了,我觉得我自己已经成熟了许多但是还在不断增进。
You use the word industry, design industry istalk about architecture, architecture is a processing, for people who arepracticing architecture they are they are late bloomer, to be a great architecta great painter a great artist will take some maturity , I think Istarted at very young but I woke up my design maybe in my mid 40s, now I'mnearly 60years old, I think I am mature and I am feeling maturing.
所以对于年轻设计师来讲首先他们需要有耐心,其次他们需要非常专注,我认为他们还需要有自己所坚信的信念,并且需要有人可以指引他们坚定自己的信念。就像我的信念是“讲究hospitality”,我设计的东西就是为那些懂得“讲究”的人而设计的,所以我把我设计的地方看做为拥有同样信念的人设计的“小礼堂”,那么年轻设计师从某种程度上来说也要找到自己的所坚信的东西并且为“信仰者“盖出他们的“小礼堂”。
So young designers first of all they need patients, I think they need to be very focus, they need to believe , they need to believe in something, and actually have the well-power to help them believing in that. For example I'm believing in hospitality , so therefore I think my hospitality venue only for the believers, I called it the chapel I build for believers, so young designers they need to somehow believe they are chapel maker and they cater to believers.
设计的过程需要很大的热情和坚持,很可惜的是现在很多设计师都在为名和利做设计,他们在为了赢得更多的关注来做设计,这是一条错误的路,你们需要相信当你在努力专注到设计当中时,那些成功和奖项将会伴随而来,只要专注在正确的设计过程当中,你便会发现自己每天都在进步。我认为这才是年轻设计师应该去练习的。
Design takes a lot of passions, it takes alot of awareness, unfortunately today a lot of young designers has risen to the fame, and they design for themselves because the one that designed to catch attention. I think that's wrong, they should only focus on designing for the right things and the award and the rewards will follow, only focus on designing correctly, and do the best as you can, you will find you do it better than every day, so I think that is something young designer should practice.

台湾出生的一名中国人,他自幼移民来到纽约,几岁移民美国,他自已亦无从记起。他自小热衷设计师的艺术,沉醉于其选择加以理解的每一项设计项目。他被人形容为一名现代主义者,生性活跃,拥有设计天资,青年时就醉心于设计,并入读纽约市艺术及设计高等中学(the High School of Art and Design in New York)。二零零五年十一月,他是获邀的三位国际设计师其中之一,应邀出席香港《透视》(Perspective)杂志举办的第二届年度设计师奖(2nd Annual Designer’s Awards),担任大会评判。
